Plant-Based Protein Blend
Although Kachava is marketed as a meal replacement rather than a protein powder, a significant part of its recipe is its plant-based protein blend. High-quality protein sources like organic quinoa, organic sacha inchi, organic amaranth, yellow pea protein, and whole grain brown rice protein are all included in the blend. The main protein component in this vegan composition is yellow pea protein. All nine necessary amino acids are present in pea protein, making it a complete protein.
Ka’Chava provides 25 grams of vegan protein per serving. This amount is almost half of the daily recommended intake of protein for the average adult, while the ideal daily consumption varies based on factors such as age, sex, activity level, and nutritional demands.
Ka’Chava is a practical choice for people trying to satisfy their protein demands because research published in the American Journal of Physiology indicates that taking at least 20 grams of protein after working out supports muscle repair and recovery.
Fiber and Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acid Blend
Another notable feature of ka’chava is its high fiber content, which helps sustain longer-lasting satiety, encourages a healthy gut microbiota, and supports normal digestion. Adults should consume 25–30 grams of fiber per day, yet most Americans don’t meet this recommendation. 6 grams of dietary fiber, or 21% of the Daily Value (DV), are found in one serving of Ka’Chava. This fiber is derived from soluble corn fiber, organic acacia gum, and oats.
Antioxidant and Super-Fruit Blend
This blend contains a variety of nutrient-dense “superfruits,” including blueberries, acai berries, maqui berries, camu-camu, and coconut blossom nectar. The primary source of Ka’Chava’s sweetness, organic coconut flower nectar, is the first component mentioned. It is also the ingredient with the highest dosage because it is listed first. The highest-dosed ingredient in this blend should offer more substantial nutritional advantages, even though coconut nectar is a healthier substitute for added sugar.
Super-Greens/Vegetable Blend
With 20 ingredients, Ka’Chava’s greens mix is the most ingredient-dense of all its custom blends. Chlella, green tea leaf, asparagus, and Brussels sprouts are essential ingredients. Nevertheless, this combination only contains about 500 mg per serving, which is a significantly lower amount than many other green supplements available on the market.
Although Ka’Chava’s greens are high in healthy nutrients, it’s hard to tell if this combination is significant enough to have a noticeable effect on your health because of the small portion size and opaqueness surrounding the amounts of each ingredient.
Adaptogen Blend
Adaptogens are well known for their potential positive effects on mood, stress response, and energy levels. Ginger, organic maca root, and useful mushrooms like shiitake, reishi, maitake, and cordyceps are all included in kachava protein 1,020 mg adaptogen blend.
There are certain issues with this blend, though. First of all, Kachava superfood excludes several of the most well-known adaptogens, including Eleuthero, Ashwagandha, and Rhodiola Rosea. Furthermore, since the average amount per ingredient in the blend is just 170 mg, it is likely that some of the substances are underdosed, even if the precise amounts of each ingredient are not stated.
Ginger, for instance, works best when taken one to four times a day at amounts of 250 mg to 1 gram per serving. Because of this, it is unlikely that there is enough ginger in Kachava to make a significant difference.
Probiotics, Prebiotics, and Digestive Enzymes
Ka’Chava’s probiotic/prebiotic blend and digestive enzyme blend, in addition to its high fiber content, promote gut and digestive health. Two Lactobacillus species—Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Lactobacillus acidophilus—are present in the probiotic blend. The precise strains and their amounts, expressed in colony-forming units (CFUs), are not revealed, though, which is a strange decision considering that CFUs are the typical unit of measurement for probiotics on supplement labels.
Rather, Ka’Chava only provides the milligram weight of the complete blend, which also includes inulin, a prebiotic fiber. For comparison, the majority of nutritional supplements and greens powders include 1–10 billion CFUs of probiotics per serving. It’s challenging to determine whether the probiotics in Ka’Chava are dosed appropriately enough to make a significant difference without precise CFU data.
Common enzymes that aid in the breakdown and absorption of macronutrients, including amylase, protease, cellulase, lactase, and lipase, are included in kachava protein bar digestive enzyme blend.
Finally, a few additional ingredients outside of its main blends are included in Kachava protein powder, like lo han fruit extract (monk fruit) for sweetness. Both xanthan gum and guar gum, which are natural thickeners, are listed in the shake. These are fillers that take up room in the formula that could have superfoods, therefore I was sad to see them on the Supplement Facts tab.
